(1873), 'nom. illegit., pro parte, excl. typ.' (which is Cissampelopsis volubilis), and Senecio subgen. Synotis C.B. Clarke (1876) 'excl. sect. Scandentes C.B. Cl.' (= Cissampelopsis), so it would seem that C.B. Clarke is not the author of the basionym, and this is not a stat. nov., as stated, but a gen. nov. Note that a generic name may be construed in any way, but in this case neither Benth., nor C.B. Clarke are to be cited between brackets. [details]
