Taxonomy Lepidoploa Sch.Bip. from IPNI is not a new generic name, but an orthographic variant of a section of Vernonia. probably a distinct genus, Lepidaploa (Cass.) Cass. All species originally included by Cassini are American. Jeffrey (1988) has suggested that the New and Old World Vernonias would belong to distinct genera if not subtribes, which was effectuated by H. Robinson (1999-a, -b). However, the Sumatran species were not mentioned by him. [details]
