Taxonomy Van Steenis suggested affinity to Lactuca glabra Chang ('Chung') from China. This, however, is a later homonym, and was in the same year (1934) described as new on a presumably different duplicate of the type, Forrest 9065, as Faberia lancifolia by J. Anthony. Faberia Hemsl. is a small SW Chinese genus. If Van Steenis' observation is correct, we have here another instance of a rare disjunct pattern between N Sumatra and N Vietnam / SW China, also exhibited by Chikusichloa mutica Y.L. Keng, Panicum hayatae A. Camus, and others (De Wilde, 1996). [details]
