Taxonomy Art 32.4 (cf. Art. 33.6a) applies in treating Lessing's reference to Tanacetum pauciflorum Richards. in Robert Brown 1825 as an indirect reference to T. pauciflorum Richards. in Franklin 1823 (the place of validation of the basionym). Thus this Lessing name is considered by us as a nom. nov. for the 1823 Richards. name, otherwise blocked in Artemisia. The Lessing name is nomenclaturally based on a villous plant, although described by Lessing as glabrous, and thence misapplied to M. discoidea, albeit the basionym Tanacetum pauciflorum Richards was listed in IK as a syn. of Tanacetum huronense Nutt. (JP, KG, & LB-2003). [details]
